19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his initial championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface from spring of that year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched victory with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
